What is a GEO Score?

The GEO Score is a comprehensive metric (0-100) that measures how well your website is optimized for AI search engines and large language models. Think of it as a "PageSpeed Insights" but for AI visibility.

GEO Score Components

Technical Score (35% of total)

The technical score evaluates your site's machine-readability:

- llms.txt (20 points): Do you have a llms.txt file?

- Schema Markup (20 points): JSON-LD structured data present?

- AI Robot Directives (15 points): Does robots.txt address AI bots?

- OpenGraph Meta (15 points): Proper OG tags for content sharing?

- Sitemap (10 points): XML sitemap available?

- Clean URLs (10 points): URL structure quality

- Page Speed (10 points): Loading performance

Content Score (40% of total)

Content is the most heavily weighted component:

- Structured Headings (20 points): Proper H1-H6 hierarchy

- Citations (20 points): References and source citations

- Definitions (15 points): Clear definitions of key terms

- Readability (15 points): Content clarity score

- Freshness (15 points): How recently content was updated

- Entity Coverage (15 points): Structured entity markup

Authority Score (25% of total)

Authority signals establish trust:

- About Page (15 points): Company/organization information

- Contact Info (15 points): Email, phone, address

- Author Pages (15 points): Individual author bios

- Social Profiles (25 points): Cross-platform presence

- Domain Authority (15 points): External authority signals

- Backlink Quality (15 points): Quality of inbound links

Score Grades

- A+ (90-100): Excellent AI optimization

- A (80-89): Great, minor improvements possible

- B (70-79): Good foundation, room for improvement

- C (60-69): Average, significant gaps exist

- D (50-59): Below average, needs attention

- F (0-49): Poor, major optimization needed
